Beyond the design theory, finding your inner vision

Since I started working as a freelancer I have had the chance to get involved in many projects with transdisciplinary approaches. A few of them have an uncommon “futurist” profile that goes beyond the sphere of graphic design, development or even marketing.

Take a look for example the Venus Project, created by Jacque Fresco (he is more famous for documentaries like Zeitgeist. More information here)

My mind has always been anxious about finding the real purpose of routine actions like work, and I am sure yours too. Why should we sell a design to later say to our client: “It was nice to meet you”?

Many of these projects nurture the constant search for an effective way to develop ourselves either as social beings or simply responsible professionals.

This restless hunt for an answer led me to many professionals within a variety of research and development areas: Gilles Lipovetsky, Albert Camus, Jacque Fresco and Sagi Haviv among many others that went beyond the surface. They are people that contributed to improve our society through their daily passion.

Gilles Lipovetsky

Gilles Lipovetsky: author of many books like L’Empire de l’éphémère and Hypermodern Times. His vision of the ephemeral reality we are living in is inspiring.

Albert Camus

Albert Camus: The Myth of Sisyphus is one of the essays that will make you think about the true purpose of life, and if not, at least it will make us laugh when hearing about the ironies of life.

Jacque Fresco

Jacque Fresco: Zeitgeist is my best guess, but if you go forward looking for more references about this great scientist, youwill notice that his contribution to the world covers many fields.

Sagi Haviv

Sagi Haviv: a world renamed designer. His portfolio is impressive, but I recommend checking out his contributions at the Conservation International. (Google it!)

And for you, which professional inspires you to build a better world? Even more: nowadays, who indeed is trying to make our world a better place?
